The price of a gallon of regular gasoline fell 6.8 cents per gallon since June 22, to an average of $3.41 across the continental United States, according to the new Lundberg Survey. The price of motor fuel has plunged 56 cents a gallon since April 5, but the latest dip is "a far cry" from the kind of skid seen in June, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg said. The potential combination of all the Bush tax cuts expiring and $110 billion in defense and domestic spending cuts set to kick in at the end of the year has come to be referred to as the "fiscal cliff." Economists have warned that the one-two punch could push the fragile economy back into a recession at the start of 2013.
